Eddie Madril Recognized as Bay Area Local Hero

Under the majestic ceilings of City Hall, San Francisco said thank you to Eddie Madril by honoring him as a KQED Bay Area Local Hero. Surrounded by family, friends, colleagues, community representatives and community leaders from across the city, including San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee, Eddie was recognized for his many years of service and contributions to Native American awareness in the bay area. When Ron Rowell, President of the Board of Directors Friendship House spoke to the crowd of Eddie’s contributions, he recognized his years of work strengthening the fiber of the community, Eddie’s tenure as a Board member of the Friendship House, an 80-bed drug and alcohol rehabilitation center that services the Native American community, and his work in schools and universities cultivating curiosity and acceptance of diversity.
